Within certain conditions, a bill payment can be deleted. However, the amount of time you have to delete it depends on when you made the payment.
Payments made today can be deleted until 9:30 p.m. eastern time. Payments made after 9:30 p.m. eastern time today can be deleted until 9:30 p.m. eastern time tomorrow.
These rules apply to both weekdays and weekends. For instance, if you make a payment at 10 p.m. eastern time on Friday, the payment is reversible until 9:30 p.m. eastern time Saturday.
To delete a payment, when signed on to Online Banking:
- Select “Pay Bills” from the left-hand navigation menu to expand the menu
- Select “View Upcoming and Past Payments”
- Scroll through the list and locate the upcoming payment that you wish to remove
- Select the “Delete” link that is associated (in the “Status” column) to the payment that you wish to delete
- Review the bill payment details to confirm, then select “Delete Payment” to action your request
You will receive a confirmation once your request has been submitted.
The amount of time you have to delete a bill payment depends on when the payment is scheduled to be processed.
A one-time bill payment, or a payment from a series scheduled for today can be deleted anytime before 9:30 p.m. eastern time today. Future-dated bill payments within the same recurring series will not be affected.
A bill payment made after 9:30 p.m. eastern time today can be deleted anytime before 9:30 p.m. eastern time tomorrow.
If you want to change the details of a bill payment, you need to delete the existing payment, and then set up a new payment with the correct details.
You can delete one payment in a recurring series, but you must make the deletion on the date the payment is scheduled to be processed. If you want to delete a payment in advance, you must delete the entire series of recurring bill payments and then set it up again.
It may take up to 1 business day for the deletion to take effect. If you delete a payee on the same day that you have a payment for that payee scheduled, your payment may still go through.
